Abby Briggs

Abby Briggs is the music teacher at St. Mary School. This is her first year in the role, and she is finding it to be a very enjoyable experience. Before becoming the music teacher, she taught fourth grade at St. Mary, but then chose to stay home with her family and contribute to their family farm. Teaching is her dream, and she has a strong passion for it. She enjoys her weekly interaction with preschool through sixth-grade students.

Ms. Briggs attended St. Mary School through sixth grade, then participated in the PSR program while attending Taylorville Junior High and High School. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Consumer Economics. She later attended the University of Illinois – Springfield for teaching. She taught fourth grade at Memorial Elementary in Taylorville before returning to St. Mary’s as the fourth-grade teacher when her former fifth-grade teacher retired.

She values spending time with her family and watching her kiddos do what they love. In her free time, she enjoys playing and watching basketball, running, reading, and shopping. She is also an avid fan of Illinois football and basketball.
