Potential “Partners In Education”

With the ever changing society we live in comes an ever changing educational need.  The rate of change we experience seems to accelerate daily and the costs associated with that change can be overwhelming.  With the guidance of our new Fund Development committee, St. Mary School has launched a new program to help address this need – Partners In Education (P.I.E.).

Our new Partners In Education program is completely outlined in the attached proposal.  This program’s basic premise is for a local business, organization or family/individual to adopt a classroom or special program at St. Mary School. Through a modest investment of $500 to $1,000, you will be assisting in the education of children in our community, while at the same time gain exposure to over 700 families in St. Mary’s Parish.

Since this program is new to us, we would welcome any suggestions, comments and/or concerns that the business community might have.  We are hopeful that this program will be a success and one that will last for many years to come.    Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact a committee member or Mr. Larry Daly, Principal, at 217/824-6501 or ldaly@ctitech.com.  Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to consider such an important program.

Sincerely,

Mission

As a Catholic educational community, St. Mary School is created, supported and nurtured by the parish.  St. Mary School’s mission is to provide an environment where each student can discover personally the presence and message of God.  Working together with our parents, faculty and the parish community, promotes academic excellence, the teaching of Christian values and the spiritual growth of each child.  We endeavor to prepare students for commitments to their Catholic faith, future academic success and responsible citizenship.

Our History

Since 1909, St. Mary School in Taylorville has served thousands of children of the Catholic faith.  The school has grown from a one-room converted home to the current facilities encompassing nearly a city block.  The faculty has changed from religious Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, to lay faculty with deep faith in their Christian values.  The curriculum has expanded from the three R’s to include a comprehensive social studies program, computer technology programs integrating a whole learning approach with classroom lessons, full music and band classes, as well as art appreciation, daily commitments to physical education and much more.  Through all the students and all the changes, St. Mary has remained true to it charge – to provide an environment where human knowledge is not only imparted, but enlightened and enlivened by an active faith.  As a result, St. Mary has developed a reputation in its community of graduating well-educated students who are strong of character and faith.

Our Future

The future holds intense optimism for St. Mary school, staff and families.  Recent growth in enrollment, the continuing high educational attainments of graduates and the schools positive reputation in the community underscore the past achievements of the school.  It is with this optimism that the school has moved to ensure its existence for decades to come.

With the ever changing society we live in comes an ever changing educational need.  The rate of change we experience seems to accelerate daily and the costs associated with that change can be overwhelming.  With the guidance of our diocesan educational office, St. Mary School has launched a new program to help address this need – P.I.E. – Partners in Education.

What is the Partners In Education (P.I.E.) Program?

A financial commitment made by a business, club or organization, individual, group or family to sponsor a classroom or specialized program for incentive materials that will enhance the activity or program.

This new program is designed to create a unique match between each class at St. Mary School and a business (partner) in the community.  The money will be used in a variety of ways to provide the class or special program with extra educational materials and opportunities throughout the school year.  In return, the “partner” would receive special recognition.

Our goal this year would be to have all of the classes and special programs “adopted” by a local business, club or organization, individual, group or family.  We are very excited about this opportunity being offered to you.  We all realize the importance and necessity of a thriving school in a community.  This is one way both the school, business community and families can ensure their futures.

Partners In Education (P.I.E.) is a tremendous way of helping students at St. Mary while providing positive publicity for our sponsors.
