Second Grade Happenings

February 2012

 

Catholic Schools’ Week

Unlike last year, we were able to enjoy all the activities that were planned. I think the students really enjoyed everything. I hope that the parents, grandparents and other adults did as well.

Sacraments

The Second Graders will be celebrating their First Reconciliation this Monday, February 6 at 7:00 in the church. Please continue to pray for them.

We will have the Parent First Communion Meeting on Thursday, February 23 at 7:00 in the APR. Please be aware that this is the night before Science Fair. So please have projects finished ahead of time. We need to have at least one parent attending this very important meeting.

Science Fair

Science Fair has been scheduled for Friday, February 24. We have seven students currently signed up to participate this year. We wish them all good luck.

Schedules

There will be no school on Monday, February 20, 2012 for Presidents’ Day.

Valentine’s Day Party

We will have a Valentine’s Party on Tuesday, February 14. I will be contacting room mothers to provide treats, drinks, and a treat bag. Your child may pass out Valentines that day as long as they bring one for each child in the class (11).

Ag and Art

Mrs. Curvey will present an art lesson on Thursday, February 16 and Mrs. Lupton will be back for another Ag in the Classroom lesson on Thursday, February 23. Please ask your child about these two wonderful programs.

Bake Sale

We will be having a Relay for Life Bake Sale sometime in February. Please watch Mrs. Robertson’s newsletter for the date. Thank you to all of you who supported our last bake sale and raffles.

Mass

The Second Graders will be the leaders in the ministries of the Mass on Thursday, February 16. Please join us if you can.

Ash Wednesday

Because Ash Wednesday is on February 22, we will have Mass on Wednesday and not on Thursday of that week. Mrs. Harrison will have more information coming home pertaining to Lenten activities that you can do with your child.
